部分Linux 用戶看見了gOS 的界面和它預裝的軟件后可能為認為 gOS 是 Google 開發的 Linux 的發行版，因為它預裝了大量的Google 軟件，而且界面風格也相當Google 。其實 gOS 并不是“Google OS”的意思，它也與Google公司沒有任何正式的關系，gOS 實際上是“Good OS ” 的意思，由美國的Good OS LLC公司所研發。它是以前熱賣的Everex 系列的超低價電腦預裝的操作系統。

gOS 的提供 iBar 程序條上輕松訪問的 Google 網絡應用程序：GMail 電子郵件服務， Google 新聞 ， Google Docs在線辦公應用 ， Google 日程表 ， Google 地圖 ， YouTube在線視頻 ， Blogger博客服務等等。 gOS 一直致力于為用戶提供高質量的開箱即用的體驗，系統對資源的占用小，操作想對簡單，因此在華碩 Eee PC 等 netbook 上使用有較強的優勢。
