Red Hat正考慮發(fā)力NoSQL/Hadoop
前兩天InternetNews.com對(duì)Red Hat 的 CEO Jim Whitehurst 進(jìn)行了一次訪談，期間問(wèn)到了一個(gè)問(wèn)題“Is Red Hat Interested in the Database Market?”(Red Hat是否有意涉足數(shù)據(jù)庫(kù)市場(chǎng)?)Whitehurst 的回答是肯定的，并且表示其涉足的話，會(huì)是在NoSQL領(lǐng)域，以下是其原話：
“When I say I don’t want to be a database company, I’m saying that I don’t want to be a SQL database company,” Whitehurst said.
我說(shuō)我們不想成為一個(gè)數(shù)據(jù)庫(kù)公司的時(shí)候，我指的是不想成為一個(gè)SQL數(shù)據(jù)庫(kù)公司。
為了更明確他的想法，他又補(bǔ)充說(shuō)：
“But we would be very interested in a NoSQL type database or Hadoop type thing,” Whitehurst said. “Those are interesting as they represent net new.”
但是我們對(duì)NoSQL數(shù)據(jù)庫(kù)，或者說(shuō)是Hadoop相關(guān)的東西非常感興趣，因?yàn)樗麄兇碇粋€(gè)新的技術(shù)時(shí)代。
其實(shí)早在去年五月份Red Hat官方就透露過(guò)這樣的想法：
“We have consistently noted that the database remains a missing layer in Red Hat’s software stack… and would see advantages in adding an open source NoSQL database to its portfolio to target MySQL users.”
我們已經(jīng)意識(shí)到在我們的整個(gè)產(chǎn)品鏈中數(shù)據(jù)庫(kù)是缺失的重要一環(huán)，我們相信為MySQL的用戶帶來(lái)一款開(kāi)源的NoSQL數(shù)據(jù)庫(kù)會(huì)是一件很不錯(cuò)的事。
其實(shí)在之前的OpenShift PaaS中，Red Hat 就已經(jīng)對(duì)MongoDB和Membase有所支持，估計(jì)在后續(xù)對(duì)NoSQL的選擇中，這兩者將會(huì)有一定的優(yōu)勢(shì)。而在Hadoop上面，與Cloudera、Hortonworks的合作都有相當(dāng)大的可能，或者是DataStax這樣Cassandra和Hadoop都支持的提供商也可能會(huì)是一個(gè)比較好的選擇。
